All you have to do is #DiveIn to the world of Korai Uji. Choose any moment from IN THE WATER (now available on Wattpad), and illustrate it in your unique art style.

HOW TO

ENTER

Step One

To enter, go to Wattpad and dive into IN THE WATER.

Step Two

Choose a moment to illustrate. It can be anything that drew you into the story - a character, something that character said or something they wore, a place on Uji, or a scene from the book.

Step Three

Post your illustration on Twitter and tag us @INTHEWATERBOOK. Tell us about your illustration and what inspired you to recreate that moment.

Step Four

Follow us on Twitter to stay up to date. The winner will be announced via Twitter on or after the 28th November.

tERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The IN THE WATER DIVE IN: Illustration Competition (the “Competition”) is open worldwide to persons aged 13 and over (“You”) subject to paragraph 2 below. KMAPAUL.CO.UK and KMA PAUL (“Us”, “We”).

2. The Competition is not open to persons under the age of 13 upon entry.

3. By entering the Competition, You are accepting these terms and conditions.

4. To enter the Competition, You must submit the following via Twitter using the account you wish to be contacted on:
a. An illustration of a moment from IN THE WATER (available on Wattpad at https://www.wattpad.com/story/317066627-in-the-water). The entry can be, but is not limited to: a character, something a character said, something a character wore, a place on Uji, or a scene from the book.
b. Post your entry to Twitter and tag @INTHEWATERBOOK.
c. Write a bit about your illustration and what inspired you to recreate that moment.
d. Follow @INTHEWATERBOOK on Twitter

5. Follow the instructions on https://www.kmapaul.co.uk/writing/in-the-water/dive-in-llustration-competition

6. Only one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed. You are responsible for the cost (if any) of sending your Competition entry to us.

7. The Competition opens at 11:00 on 24 July 2022 and closes at 23:59 on 21 November 2022. Entries received outside this time period will not be considered.

8. By submitting an entry to the Competition, You give KMAPAUL.CO.UK the right to contact you regarding your Competition entry and the right to use your name and town or city of residence for the sole purpose of identifying You as the creator of your entry and/or as a winner of the Competition.

9. Your entry (including any illustrations submitted as described below) must be your own work, must not be copied, must not contain any third-party materials and/or content that You do not have permission to use and must not otherwise be obscene, defamatory or in breach of any applicable legislation or regulations. If We have reason to believe your entry is not your own work or otherwise breaches this paragraph, then We may not consider it.

Picking the winner
1. The winner will be chosen at our discretion based on the criteria laid out on the website (https://www.kmapaul.co.uk/writing/in-the-water/dive-in-llustration-competition)
2. The winner will be announced on or after 28st November 2022 via @INTHEWATERBOOK on Twitter.

The prize
1. One winner will receive one Wacom Cintiq 16 for completing the illustrations and winning the competition. The prize will be mailed to the address provided but the winner via Twitter direct messages.
a. Under the prize contract you will assign all rights in the commissioned illustrations to KMAPAUL.CO.UK and KMA PAUL. You will not receive any payment in respect of KMAPAUL.CO.UK’s use of the commissioned illustrations other than the prize specified above.
b. No logos or brand names of the winner will appear on the final illustrations or products that they are used on.

5. The winner will be notified by KMAPAUL.CO.UK by email on, or before, 11 November. If a winner does not respond to KMAPAUL.CO.UK within 7 days of being notified by KMAPAUL.CO.UK, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and KMAPAUL.CO.UK shall be entitled to select another winner (and that winner will have to respond to the email from KMAPAUL.CO.UK within 7 days or else they will also forfeit their prize). If a winner rejects their prize, then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and KMAPAUL.CO.UK shall be entitled to select another winner.

Some other rules
1. The Promoter of the Competition is KMAPAUL.CO.UK. Any complaints regarding the Competition should be sent to this email address: hello@kmapaul.co.uk.

2. KMAPAUL.CO.UK accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by You as a result of entering the Competition or accepting any prize. KMAPAUL.CO.UK further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to You or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Competition. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude the liability of KMAPAUL.CO.UK for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence.

3. KMAPAUL.CO.UK reserves the right at any time, and from time to time, to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this Competition with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of KMAPAUL.CO.UK in all matters under its control is final and binding.

4. KMAPAUL.CO.UK shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.

5. The Competition and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by English law and entrants submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
