Having worked with Hotel October in the past (via Nonage), my next steps were to soidify his branding and further adapt the aesthetic.

Given the client’s need to operate the brand independently, I approached the design with a simple aesthetic in mind; bold, clean and glossy.

Shopping for services

From a UX perspective, my aim was to create a digital space that evoked ‘virtual consultancy’; blending the glossy feel of a resort site, with the concept-led stylisation of a city based neo-hotel. I also felt it imperative the website have a sense of exclusivity, as if the online portal to a country club with state-of-the-art facilities. As a result the website was designed to encourage users to wander through imagery of the client’s studio; and peruse services from instrumentals for purchase, to sample packs for download.

Designing for social

When launching a service-based business, it is important to utilise opportunities that allow the client to attractively display their offering to potential clients. I developed a 3 x 3 instagram layout, paired with templates for future usage on a 1 x 3 instagram layout, to add grandeur to the launch of a long-awaited studio space.

Sleek ecommerce

The site was applauded by the client for achieving the ambitious goals set; sleek ecommerce that puts brand potency at the forefront of its construction. The success of the design has gone on to inspire my intrigue in creating more brand-led shopping experiences, and testing the limits of online commerce.
